God that was strange.

My apartment here is on the 2nd floor of this building and there are at least 3 or 4 more. I only realized yesterday that there was a whole new door in my apartment that led up a tiny stair case. I asked and so my roommate, Lars, told me there was, as he put it "something awesome" upstairs, but that I needed to go find out for myself what it was. He hinted that there was a nice view, which there was, but it was also real strange. We were talking about this last night and I was too tired to explore it then, but this morning it was the first thing I did. I noticed the sun was out, and I thought if there Is a nice view, I'm gonna try and snag some photos. Anyways, up the tiny spiral stairs, about 5 or 6 sets. I got up through the unmarked wooden door and into, what I realized now was just an attic. And down at the end of this cold, almost pitch-black hallway I only see one light. It seemed like a natural light so I moved down towards it. At the end there is just only this tiny room with heaps of dust on the floor, maybe the first vacuum ever made and one little window. I knew this couldn't be it, so as I was looking around some more I noticed one more door. This one shittier, smaller and creakier than the last. But I went through it and down a similar hallway with one light at the end. I was led into a huge circular atrium space. It was dust-carpeted like the rest of the attic, but also flooded with the morning light. And in the middle of this room there was a big, old ladder that ran up twenty or thirty feet to the top of it. Naturally, I climbed it-even though the timbers looked like they were from 1400. I thought maybe at the top one of the roof panels pushed out and there would be the view, but no, just an aerial of this strange room with old, orange chairs and other random objects hiding in the corners. I wasn't disappointed at all, this place was insane, but I climbed back down and planned to come back up with a different lens to capture that. From this side of the hallway I could see much more clearly, the different doors that lined it. They all had locks on them, and it looked like a prison cell block. I got down to the end of it and of course the door that I came in had somehow shut behind me and locked. First thoughts: Fuck, I'm gonna starve up here, I'll eat the chairs and drink the dust. But I looked around and saw all of these doors. I just hoped one would lead back. I started trying them, none would budge. But back in the atrium, I noticed another smaller door back in the corner. It lead into a little crawl space, and again there was natural light at the end of it. So like an insect I drove right to it on my hands an knees, choking on the dust. I got to the edge and looked down, and it spit me out right above the first stair case, about half-way down towards my room.

It was all really insane, but I think I most-likely picked up whatever traces of the black-death remained in that vent. I'll go back up and post some pictures, but definitely remember to prop open that door.

Ok, time for eggs.
