I was shocked to hear this morning they hadn't heard any of it! Slept right through. I guess they'd been asleep for a few hours at that point, and were also on the far side of the apartment. But god, I can't stop wondering what happened. Super strange. I guess these are the perks of living in Little Arabia

If some guy is in the midst of a quadruple murder and another walks in to stop him and then they get into a gun fight and no ones around to hear it...
Just after 1 am last night, I heard a string of 10 or 15 gun shots. I was laying in bed at the time reading and the lights were still on. I couldn't pinpoint their location, but it sounded like a gunfight in my courtyard. I could hear each shot sharply, then the softer reverberations as they ran down the city blocks. I was really scared one was about to come through my window so I turned the lights off and crawled over to it to investigate. No one in the courtyard, but the shots were still coming about every 15 or 20 seconds. The kitchen window had a better view of the courtyard so I ran to it, wincing with every pop. No one in the courtyard, but on the far wall were the bright projections of whatever was happening in a dark room a few stories up. Like a motion picture I sat there and watched them come in. Three of four more and it was over. I went back into my room, pretty terrified at this point wondering what the hell I just had heard. The sirens came a few minutes later, and I heard men talking and shuffling up the stairs but I couldn't understand what had happened, all danish. I figured my roommates were next door listening the same thing and I'd be able to get the scoop tomorrow, so after this sick goodnight story I went to bed.
